About search best food

A small, independent recipe site built around one question: of all the ways people make a dish, which one is worth your evening?

How it started

The site grew out of a running document of kitchen notes — which carbonara never scrambled, which dal tasted of more than turmeric, which banana bread rose the same way twice. Every entry recorded what had been compared and what won. When the document became too long to scroll through on a phone propped against the kettle, it turned into this site, which opened in August 2026 with six recipes.

What you will find here

You will not find adverts, pop-ups, sign-up walls, affiliate links or sponsored posts. Nobody pays to have a recipe or an ingredient featured.

The kitchen

Everything is developed in an ordinary home kitchen: a four-ring hob, a domestic fan oven checked with a separate oven thermometer, cast-iron and non-stick pans, and a mid-range food processor. If a recipe needs a special tool, it says so up front. The full process is described on How we test.

Corrections and suggestions

If a recipe does not work for you, we would genuinely like to know. Write to hello@search-best.food with what happened — your oven type, any substitutions, where it went off course. When a recipe changes as a result, the page shows a revision date and a one-line note about what changed.

Suggestions for dishes to settle are welcome too. The list of candidates is long, so they are tested in the order they seem most useful.

Using the recipes

Cook them, print them, share links to them. Please do not republish the text or the illustrations elsewhere without asking first.
